Cyber School welcomes new commandant

In an assumption of responsibility ceremony held June 28, in Signal Theater, Col. Paul G. Craft became the fourth Cyber School commandant and chief of cyber. Craft previously served as director of operations (J-3), Joint Force Headquarters – Department of Defense Information Network (JFHQDODIN), U.S. Cyber Command, Fort Meade, Maryland.

In his remarks to the audience, Maj. Gen. Neil S. Hersey, U.S. Army Cyber Center of Excellence and Fort Gordon commanding general, highlighted some of the reasons he is extremely proud of the Cyber School team, including the fact that the Cyber School has instructed over 4,600 service members since its inception in 2014; how the Cyber School and Cyber Branch implemented the Cyber Specialties Direct Commission Pilot Program, which became a model for the rest of the Army as other branches look to adopt the program for their own direct commissioning; and the implementation of electronic warfare into the Cyber Branch and the re-training of EW specialists to compete against near-peer adversaries.
