Local schools receive $455K grant
Richmond County schools received a $455,217 grant from the National Math and Science Initiative. The check was presented to Richmond County school leaders during TechNet Augusta 2018, held last week at the Augusta Marriott Convention Center.
In partnership with the Department of Defense, NMSI is a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming math and science education and proven effective programs.
NMSI has benefited teachers and students in more than 1,000 schools across the country by training more than 50,000 teachers and providing Advanced Placement education opportunities for more than 2 million students.
Dr. Bernard A. Harris Jr., CEO of NMSI, recognized Maj. Gen. John B. Morrison, Cyber Center of Excellence and Fort Gordon commanding general, and Fort Gordon leadership, crediting them as being part of the reason for the grant presentation.
