The effort to create Georgia’s third state military cemetery in Augusta continues to gain ground.
At a Monday ceremony, organizers and supporters – including members of the Patriot Guard and area VFW and other veterans organizations – voiced their unified, bipartisan support for the effort.
“It’s completed the way I feel about where my final resting place will be,” said Rep. Gloria Frazier, D-Hephzibah, the spouse of retired Army Sgt. Wayne Frazier.
Frazier said military friends and neighbors who want to be buried in military cemeteries often turn to the state military cemetery in Milledgeville or the national veteran cemetery in Columbia, S.C.
