New internet options for underserved areas
Harlem residents and others with limited internet options now have a new option to connect.
AT&T Fixed Wireless Internet1 for underserved locations is now available to residents and small businesses in parts of Columbia County.
“In today’s world, high-speed connectivity is important, and I’m excited to see the private sector continuing to bring enhanced connectivity to our rural Georgia communities,” Harlem Mayor Roxanne Whitaker said in prepared statement.
Fixed Wireless Internet service delivers an internet connection with download speeds of at least 10Mbps and upload speeds of at least 1Mbps. The connection comes from a wireless tower to a fixed antenna on a customer’s home or business.
The service, now in 18 states, began in 2017 and the company has plans to provide access to over 1.1 million locations by the end of 2020.
