Unisys, Augusta Tech create cyber apprenticeship program
Unisys Corp. is making it easier for Augusta Technical College cybersecurity students to get jobs at its Augusta Security Operations Center.
The tech company on Monday announced a “Cybersecurity Support Technician Apprenticeship” partnership with the college in which students – veterans in particular – can work at the downtown facility while earning their cybersecurity certificates at the Georgia Cyber Center campus.
Unisys’ downtown operations center, built to house up to 750 employees, is in near-constant need of cyber-skilled workers, said Jonathan Goldberger, the vice president and general manager of Unisys Security Solutions.
He said the program likely will start with fewer than 10 students but will ramp up quickly to meet the needs of the operations center, which provides cybersecurity and technical support to corporate clients around the world as well as the U.S. Army Enterprise Service Desk.
